MISSION AND PURPOSE
We work to inform, uplift, and mobilize immigrant and marginalized communities across North Texas — starting with Know Your Rights and expanding into housing, employment, health access, and family preparedness.
Our goals are simple and direct:
Share free, bilingual information
Build trust through neighborhood outreach, block walks, court sit-ins, and cultural gatherings
Create a network through which we can alert residents to verified ICE or CBP activity through one-way emergency notifications
Host free community clinics in collaboration with legal and advocacy partners — offering not just representation, but real preparation for families navigating harsh immigration realities
Promote critical thinking and clear communication to help families make informed decisions and protect their future We are here to make information accessible, solidarity visible, and action possible — one neighborhood, one conversation at a time.
STRUCTURE
Vecinos Unidos operates with a horizontal, people-powered structure designed for flexibility and rapid response.
Pods: Dynamic , self-forming groups of volunteers mobilized for specific events like block walks, sit-ins, or community workshops. Pods are assembled as needed and may vary by location, focus, and urgency.
Task Committees: Standing teams focused on core areas of movement-building. Each committee is supported by a Core Organizer, who serves as a Task Manager to coordinate the group’s deliverables and keep efforts aligned with our mission.
Current Committees include:
Media Committee – Manages social media, flyer design, photography, and content strategy
Infrastructure Committee – Oversees the Discord server, document storage, and website buildout
Information Publications Committee – Produces zines, handouts, press releases, and workshop materials
Community Engagement Committee – Plans outreach efforts, workshops, event logistics, and volunteer onboarding
Safety & Logistics Committee – Develops safety protocols, manages transportation, on-site support, and de-escalation planning
Founding Steward (Noemi Rios): Ensures the long-term mission, values, and community-led integrity of the project remain protected while supporting collaboration across all teams.

INSPIRATION
Vecinos Unidos means Neighbors United. This name reflects both our approach and our commitment— to show up for one another, neighbor to neighbor, block by block.
Vecinos Unidos DFW was born from urgency — the urgent need to reach marginalized and immigrant communities being persecuted and scapegoated by politicians, and to build long-term solutions through community connection and truth-telling. The idea was sparked by our founder’s upbringing in free religious study and door-to-door service — repurposed not to convert, but to connect. We believe in meeting people where they are: on their porches, in their vecindades, at their kitchen tables — with truth, care, and dignity.
We are an independent, community-rooted project — not aligned with any political party, religious group, or institution. We believe in mutual aid as a community solution, and we practice information activism — empowering neighbors with resources, critical thinking tools, and honest conversations that help them make informed decisions for themselves and their families.
What started as a desire to reach persecuted immigrant communities has grown into a broader grassroots project in North Texas — rooted in trust, fueled by action, and grounded in care.
